  • Neighborhood
This Gold Coast suburb is beloved by tourists and locals alike, with Currumbin Waters described as an ‘inspiring beachfront community’. With friendly locals, stunning views of the picturesque Currumbin Creek, and an abundance of activities to do in the area, it’s easy to see why so many are so fond of this waterside suburb.

The ultimate holiday adventure for the entire family is the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. For the early risers, make sure you get to the park for the 8am bird feeding, where for just a gold coin donation, you’ll be able to help feed the beautiful Lorikeets who call this park home. After this gorgeous experience, explore the park and meet the variety of animals who call it home; sassy Tasmanian devils, dingos with attitude, sweet red pandas, and so many other animals are waiting to put on a show. This park offers a variety of encounters, including, but not limited to, as an after-hours tour, feeding koalas or capybaras, and the opportunity to get up close and personal with red pandas.

Once you’re done admiring all the animals with your feet on the ground, make sure you take part in the Tree Top Challenge Currumbin. Located within the Wildlife Sanctuary, this activity is sure to get your adrenaline pumping. With 80 tree-top challenges that include 11 insane ziplines, you’re guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience. This three and a half hour long course will see you zip lining over crocodiles, kangaroos, dingoes and emus, as well as over a dense rainforest.

Currumbin Beach is voted to be Queensland’s cleanest beach, and boasts crystal clear water. This beach is patrolled all year round by the Currumbin Beach Life saving club, and boasts two points of interest at either side of the beach; the famous Elephant Rock lookout and the iconic Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club. Elephant Rock is a curious rock formation located on Currumbin Beach. These rocks are actually the remains of ancient volcanic activity, and beach goers can climb the stairs to a platform at the top of the rock for panoramic views out to Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta. Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club is a restaurant boasting the most stunning views atop a cliff. With delectable meals and resplendent water views, there’s no better way to end a long day at the beach.

The Currumbin Sanctuary Night Markets are located at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and run every Friday from 4pm until 9pm. This local market proudly boasts a wide array of food; both local and international iconic meals can be found here. Enjoy good food and immaculate vibes while listening to the local talent play some tunes.

Head to Cougal Cascades; as part of Springbrook National Park, the Cougal Cascades is home to a stunning waterfall with Insta-worthy views, and an easy, yet beautiful, rainforest walk. This waterfall is accessible from the 1.6km return walking track, which is manageable for all fitness levels and wheelchair users. This walk is relatively short, though it feels like the views go on for miles as you wind through the subtropical rainforest alongside the Currumbin Creek. Keep an eye out for wildlife! You’ll be sure to see an array of birds and animals, including kookaburras and land mullets. Make sure to also head to the Currumbin Rock Pools, a secret swimming hole only fifteen minutes away from Currumbin Beach. Lounge like the local lizards on the nearby rocks, or dive into the creek and enjoy a refreshing - though admittedly cold! - dip in the water. There are plenty of places for young kids to have fun as well, with shallow areas, and you’re sure to meet a friendly dog or two as they cool off in the water. Once you’ve finished in the water, head to the lush green grassy banks, and enjoy a picnic.

Experience the unique fun of Stand Up Paddle. The Currumbin Boatshed offers extremely competitive rates to hire out Stand Up Paddle Boards, and if you’re interested in lessons, be sure to contact the Boatshed directly. This activity is suitable for any skill level, and is the perfect way to explore Currumbin Creek.
