If you could live anywhere in the world for six months, where would it be and why?
Definitely my hometown, Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province, China. Hangzhou is often considered the “Silicon Valley of China”, it’s where companies and trends like Alibaba, ByteDance, Douyin (TikTok China), e-commerce, livestream selling, and digital innovation grew rapidly. At the same time, it’s also one of the most beautiful cities in China, famous for West Lake, Longjing green tea, and its unique balance between modern technology and traditional Chinese culture.
What’s your favourite part of working in the short-term rental industry?
I believe short-stay accommodation is one of the best examples of the modern sharing economy. It creates more value for property owners and their assets, while also giving travellers more diverse and personalised accommodation experiences. The industry continues to evolve and creates endless opportunities for creativity, hospitality, and new business models.
What’s one tip you’d give to someone looking to list their property as a short-term rental?
At the end of the day, we want guests to truly experience the quality of the property, the care from the owner, and the level of service we provide. That’s why presentation is everything. Furniture should have character, the styling should reflect some personality and local culture, and the property should feel unique rather than generic. Those details are what create a competitive and memorable short-stay experience.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy Ultimate Frisbee, fishing, and discovering great food. I also love introducing authentic Chinese restaurants and cuisine to my colleagues and friends — it’s something that genuinely makes me happy.
