You have a short-term rental Property in Sydney or for the matter anywhere else in the world? If you do you should probably take a ‘vacation’ in your own home.
If you permanently rent out your home to travelers your home will be ready for your ‘vacation’. If you only rent it out while you yourself go on holidays it’s probably easiest to do this just before you go away. Remember you will only do this once and even tho it will require a bit of time and effort it will repay itself tenfold in reviews and customer happiness.
So pack your bag like you would do to go anywhere else for a weekend or 5 days, send yourself all home instructions, drive twice around the block and pretend you just arrived at the property.
Follow the instructions to open the house, wander around it like you see it for the first time and then settle in and relax.
In the evening pretend you want to cook a meal for the maximum number of guests. See if the fridge is big enough to store food for all of them and if there are sufficient pots/pans/plates/glasses and cutlery for everyone.
Before bed, you go and have a shower. Did you bring your shampoo and your body lotion?
The next morning pretends to go or go to the beach…have you remembered to bring a beach towel? Or are you craving a beach umbrella because it’s an extra hot day down at Bondi?
How would you pick a bar at the beach to relax and people watch? Or is it raining and you cannot leave the house all day?
Play through all of the scenarios and you will quickly be able to see what little extras could bring your guests tons of happiness. Yes some of them will require a small initial investment but happy guests mean more future guests.
And think about it…Spending two hours preparing an awesome home manual and to write down your favorite dining & drinking spots is really not that difficult at all.
Providing beach towels, an umbrella, some little shampoos, soaps and conditioners, a Netflix account for rainy days or some kitchen basics like tea/coffee, salt/pepper do not cost the world and your guests will be impressed with your attention to detail. These are just some of the ways you can add the extra touch to your short-term rental but there are hundreds more. Anything you missed on your ‘vacation’ or spend time thinking about will be something your guests will also think about. Also always remember all purchases will be tax deductible or will add comport to your own house when you get back.
So go ahead……Vacation time at home here you come !!!!
