Cycling the Bartlett Bikeway is a fantastic way to explore the stunning waterfront, stretching for 5 kilometers and finishing near the heritage-listed Nelson Head Lighthouse, built in 1875. Just a 2.5-hour drive north from Sydney and 34 kilometers from Newcastle Airport, Nelson Bay is a must-visit seaside destination.

For stunning views, visit Anna Bay, which is also within the Port Stephens region. In Anna Bay, you’ll find Birubi Beach with its expansive sand and sea, perfect for swimming, beachcombing, or simply enjoying the view. Birubi Beach provides access to the Worimi Conservation Lands for 4WD vehicles with a WCL beach vehicle permit, available from several locations (more information on the official Worimi Conservation Lands website).

If water activities aren’t your preference, there are plenty of other experiences nearby. The Irukandji Aquarium offers an interactive marine conservation experience with sharks, stingrays, and other sea creatures. Oakfield Ranch provides unique animal experiences, including camel rides across the largest dunes in the southern hemisphere and adrenaline-inducing 4WD tours exploring local Aboriginal history and sandboarding.

The word “Umina” was derived from the Aboriginal term meaning Place of Sleep. Crepe Myrtle Lodge is tastefully styled with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing holiday or work. We have one main room with a hotel-quality queen bed and two smaller rooms, each with a very comfy single bed. Enjoy a beautiful outdoor area where you can sit and have breakfast, dinner, or cheese and snacks under the magnificent Crepe Myrtle Tree. On-site parking is available.

At Woy Woy, you can enjoy seafood while taking in the scenery and observing pelicans. Ettalong Beach is nearby, where you can catch a ferry ride to Palm Beach for lunch.

Transit

The cabin is located a 15-minute walk (less than 2 kilometers) from the nearby beaches in Umina as well as the local shops and cafes. You can also catch the No. 50 or 55 bus on Ocean Beach Road (500 meters up the road), which will take you to Woy Woy station.

Tricklebeck is only minutes drive from some of the areas best bushwalks and lookouts. Visit Hargraves Lookout for amazing views over Megalong and Kanimbla Valleys. Or drive down to Megalong Valley, through the rainforest and go horseriding. Shipley is also famous for its apple orchards.
Tricklebeck is less than 5 minutes drive from the village of Blackheath, with its world class restaurants, antique shops and lovely cafes and specialty shops. You must try the sourdough from one of the two local bakeries or visit the New Ivanhoe for good old fashioned pub style meals.
There are many local walking tracks at Govetts Leap and Evans Lookout or you could take a short drive to one of the various attractions such as the Megalong Valley, Jenolan Caves, the Three Sisters at Echo Point, Leura Mall and Wentworth Falls, all with their own galleries, antique and craft shops, restaurants, cafes and walks.
